Benefits

Why choose Endurocide® Roller Blinds?

Traditional hospital blinds have the potential to become sources of pathogenic transmission as Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs), such as C.difficile spores and MRSA, can remain on the blind’s surface for long periods.

Our new Endurocide® Roller Blinds transform all of this!

Break the chain of infection

Part of our Endurocide® Infection Control product range, our unique patent pending formula both traps and kills spores & bacteria on the surface of the blind - ie Endurocide® Roller Blinds are both sporistatic and sporicidal - so helping the fabric from becoming a source of pathogenic transmission.

How do Endurocide® Roller Blinds work?

At the manufacturing stage, the blind fabric is impregnated with our unique, patent-pending Endurocide® Sporicidal Liquid, as well as a flame retardant chemical.

Endurocide® Sporicidal Liquid contains a highly effective blend of biocides proven to kill:

  • spores
  • bacteria
  • fungi
  • H1N1 Swine Flu

Endurocide® Sporicidal Liquid works by coating the fabric with a biostatic polymer layer, which traps pathogens on the fabric, preventing them from multiplying.

Once the pathogens are trapped, Endurocide® Sporicidal Liquid:

  • kills spores by piercing through their spore coat and cortex, causing lethal DNA damage
  • kills bacteria by
    • preventing respiration
    • disrupting cell metabolism
    • inhibiting cell reproduction

BLIND INSTRUCTIONS 1

It's that easy!

International Standards

The fabric used in Endurocide® Roller Blinds has been tested in accordance with the following International Standards:

Bacteriostatic & Sporistatic testing

Bacteriostatic & sporistatic means that the curtain is capable of inhibiting the growth and reproduction of bacteria and spores.

The International Standards for bacteriostatic & sporistatic fabrics are AATCC 147 and CG 147. These tests are qualitative tests, ie they evaluate the fabric’s antimicrobiality.

New fabric "box fresh"

  • Spores to CG 147 & AATCC 147 - against C.difficile
  • Bacteria to CG 147 & AATCC 147 - against E.hiraeE.coliPseudomonas aeruginosa, MRSA and VRE
  • Fungi to CG 147 & AATCC 147 - against Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans

1 & 2 year testing

The following testing has also been carried out on fabric 1 year and 2 years after manufacture

1 year after manufacture

  • Spores to CG 147 - against C.difficile
  • Bacteria to CG 147 - against E.coliSalmonella typhimurium and MRSA
  • Fungi to CG 147 - against Candida albicans

2 years after manufacture

  • Bacteria to CG 147 - against Acinetobacter baumanii, MRSA, ESBL E.coliKlebsiella pneumoniae, ESBL Klebsiella pneumoniae and VRE

Bactericidal & Sporicidal testing

Bactericidal & sporicidal means that the curtain is capable of killing spores and bacteria.

The International Standards for bactericidal fabrics are AATCC 100 and JIS Z 2801. These tests are quantitative tests, ie the number / reduction of bacteria is counted.

New fabric "box fresh"

  • Spores to AATCC 100 & JIS Z 2801 - against C.difficile
  • Bacteria to AATCC 100 & JIS Z 2801 - against E.coli, ESBL E.coli, MRSA, Salmonella choleraesuis and Salmonella typhimurium
  • Fungi to AATCC 100 & JIS Z 2801 - against Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans

1 & 2 year testing

The following testing has also been carried out on fabric 1 year and 2 years after manufacture

1 year after manufacture

  • Spores to AATCC 100 - against C.difficile

2 years after manufacture

  • Spores to AATCC 100 - against C.difficile

Endurocide Sporicidal Liquid

The following testing has also been carried on the liquid used to provide the antimicrobial and sporicidal coating on the blinds:

  • Viruses to EN 14476 - against H1N1 Swine Flu
